We are currently in the Alpha stage of development, focused on implementing the core gameplay mechanics and establishing a functional gameplay loop. The primary goal is to ensure all foundational systems are in place to support further polish and content expansion.
Core Features Implemented or In Progress:
- Grid Upgrade System – Players can drag and drop upgrade modules into weapon slots, dynamically affecting gameplay.
- Upgrade Modules – 5–10 upgrade module types are being developed, complete with tooltip UI.
- Level Rewards – Functional reward system that spawns three upgrade options upon room clearance.
- Combat Effects – Basic debuffs (Ignited, Frozen, Shocked, Erosion) have been implemented.
- Enemy Systems – A Poise system with visual UI and two enemy types (Melee and Ranged).
- Currency and Meta Progression – Includes in-run and out-run coins, merchant rooms, and simple meta-progression mechanics.
- Weapon and Combat Art – Weapon visuals are integrated (can be WIP), along with gunfire animation.
- Player Controls – Basic player movement features like jumping are functional.
"Nice to Have" Features in Queue:
- Additional weapon (Shotgun) and enemy (Juggernaut)
- Enhanced gunplay animation and feedback (VFX, hit markers, etc.)
- More refined player movement (e.g., polished dash)
- Visual polish: environment and enemy art
- Improved UI/UX elements for smoother play experience
Player Stories and Design Goals:
The build currently addresses multiple player stories including strategic combat variety, satisfying gunplay, meaningful meta progression, and basic visual feedback. Other requests like immersive graphics, smoother exploration, and enhanced audio are marked as secondary goals for later phases.
