Toadally Cool Potions

Toadally Cool Potions is a relaxing potion-brewing game about crafting potions based on what your customer requests. Discover new potions as you experiment mixing magical ingredients, and perform magic spells to create the perfect potion! 

Everything you see has been built by Team 02 during a two-week game project at Futuregames, involving a 9-developer team consisting of programmers, artists and designers. 

Toadally Cool Potions is the result of a game project that tasked us with creating a game that fits the theme Magic of Nature and magical transformations for an 11-15-year-old audience. The game was put on exhibition at Tekniska Museet as part of the “Making Magic” exhibition.

Some of the inspiration for Toadally Cool Potions were other games with alchemy mechanics such as Potion Craft: Alchemy Simulator and We Were Here Together, the spellcasting in Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, as well as the fun and child-friendly drag-and-drop mechanics present in Häxan Surtant Spelet and games made by Toca Boca. 

This game project taught us that scoping down is a never-ending task, especially when under such a short timeframe, and that good work culture and communication are the key to efficient and enjoyable teamwork!
