Welcome to Skybound, the exhilarating wingsuit racing game that will take your breath away! Prepare for adrenaline-pumping multiplayer races set in breathtaking environments that will leave you on the edge of your seat.
In Skybound, we've reimagined wingsuit flying as an action-packed arcade experience while staying true to the spirit of the sport. Players will soar through the skies, navigating challenging courses filled with strategically placed speed boosts and obstacles.
Compete against up to 20 players in real-time multiplayer races and compare your time with others on the end-of-round leaderboard. Easy-to-learn controls make Skybound accessible to all players, while simultaneously offering a challenge to master.
Immerse yourself in visually stunning environments inspired by the cyberpunk Tokyo aesthetic, where every race feels like a journey through a futuristic metropolis.
Get ready to spread your wingsuit and take flight in Skybound – see you in the air!
The process
Our team embarked on this journey with excitement about creating a game together, coupled with uncertainty stemming from the new challenge of developing both a multiplayer game and targeting a mobile platform. Quickly, we established a shared understanding that we aimed to demonstrate our ability to adapt to specific criteria, avoiding pushing the project in directions that diverged from the request for proposal. Our target audience was comprised of fans of action sports, necessitating an action-oriented game while maintaining authenticity to the nature of the sport.
Various sports were proposed by team members, each with some basic concepts attached. We settled on wingsuiting and promptly began refining the design and artwork. Within three days, we had a rudimentary movement prototype, allowing us to begin fleshing out all parts of the game.
Following a highly successful greenlight session, we were brimming with excitement and progressed with all aspects of the game. Designers envisioned a fast-paced game set amidst tall buildings, while artists envisioned one where players flew closer to the ground, appreciating finer environmental details. This challenge was partly addressed, given the timeframe, through increased collaboration between artists and level designers.
Ultimately, we are immensely proud of the product we've created. We gained invaluable insights into the pipeline and collaborative environment necessary for game development. In hindsight, we acknowledge production challenges, but we also cherish the positive team dynamics that enabled us to overcome obstacles as they arose.
